Behind Bars

The cold, gray walls confine you. Time crawls. Each day appears the last: a monotonous cycle punctuated by rations and patrols. Communication with the outside society is restricted. Despair becomes your constant shadow. You scramble for purpose in this restricted existence.

You try to hold onto sanity. There are moments of humanity: a kind guard, a brief conversation with another inmate, the seldom seen kindness of a visitor. But these moments are transient, quickly swallowed by the harsh reality of serving your time.

The weight of your past bears down you. Redemption feel like distant, elusive dreams. You question if you'll ever truly break free, not just from the bars, but from the emotional shackles that hold you within.

Conviction Versus Consequence

A faith is a potent thing. It can fuel actions, ignite passions, prison and direct us toward our goals. However, each conviction carries with it an inherent burden. Our convictions shape our choices, and those choices inevitably have repercussions, both for ourselves and the world around us. Sometimes, the effects of our convictions are positive, bringing fulfillment. Other times, they can lead to suffering, revealing a stark gap between our intentions and the unintended outcomes.

A crushing weight settles upon them/her/him, a suffocating blanket woven from the threads of unspoken copyright. The only company they have is the echoes/ghostly whispers/silent screams of their own thoughts/memories/yearnings.

The Structure Have Ears

If one think a wall can keep conversations, believe again. Walls, including all other things, are sometimes of observing. Ancient wisdom warn individuals that walls have ears, and while this may seem like a legend, the truth is often unsettling.

  • Gossip can flow through walls, carried by sound.
  • Secret conversations can be detected by anyone within earshot.
  • Especially, walls themselves can contain the echoes of past events.

So, exercise caution about what you share within walls. The Structure may be listening more than you think.

The Weight of Innocence Lost
